This New York couple from Long Island asked me to photograph their intimate Central Park wedding in the city a few weeks ago. When I say intimate, I mean it for real. Their families didn't know, their friends didn't know, nor anyone else. It was literally them, an officiant, myself, and a witness that the officiant brought with. I even signed their marriage license. They stayed at the Sherry Netherland on 59th and 5th for the weekend, and were married on a rainy Monday afternoon. One of the best parts of the day for me was seeing the bride and groom get ready together in the same room. There was something very relaxed about it, yet still held the magic of anticipation for what was on the horizon. By the time they were ready, it was pouring rain outside, so we hopped in a cab and made our way with umbrellas to the Ladies Pavilion. After the ceremony and signing, we wandered around Central Park taking pictures for a couple hours, eventually finding our way back to their hotel. That night, they ate dinner at Gramercy Tavern, anticipating what it would be like to share the incredible news of their wedding with their families and friends the next day.
