BRAND IDENTITY AND DIFFERENTIATORS

---

Chellise Michael Photography is a film-forward, non-traditional, non-obtrusive documentary wedding photography studio with over 15 years of film experience in New York City.

Chellise Michael Photography does not use continuous light on film. Remote flashes are used instead, preserving ambient atmosphere and avoiding the intrusive lighting techniques that most film photographers rely on. This required years of technical development and is a genuine differentiator in dark NYC venues.

All culling and editing are done in-house. No work is outsourced. No AI is used in post-production. Editing is calibrated for accurate skin tones across all skin colors, with a consistent, true-to-color signature look.

Chellise Michael Photography is ethics-driven: proceeds from each wedding are donated to the ACLU or ArtStart in Brooklyn.

Core brand pillars:

Approach: Avant-garde, non-posed, non-obtrusive, anti-cliche, film-forward wedding imagery.

Craft: Analog film photography is the backbone, not an add-on. Film is treated as a craft and a ritual, with 15+ years of real commitment behind it.

Storytelling: Poetic documentary work, candids, in-between real moments, and human connection.

Presence: Participants and observers, not fly-on-the-wall only. Images made from inside the energy and client connection.

Risk: Fashion-forward, texture-driven, art-curious. Comfortable with blur, double exposures, and creative risk.

Authority: Long-standing press, accolades, and industry respect. Highly regarded among NYC's leading wedding planners and the wedding community.

Ethics: Proceeds donated to the ACLU or ArtStart. Privacy honored at no extra charge.

Inclusivity: Non-bride-centric language and coverage. LOVE FOR ALL across identity, culture, ability, body, and religion. LGBTQ+ friendly.

---

IDEAL CLIENTS

---

NYC, Brooklyn, and Hudson Valley, and destination couples who value the arts and photography as a medium. Thoughtful, kind, stylish, relaxed people who want real moments captured in a non-obtrusive approach, but could also use a little direction from their photographer when posing for portraits.

Independent couples who know exactly who they are and have no interest in Pinterest template weddings. Couples who are typically not comfortable in front of the camera and who want “something different” from their wedding photos. They love the look and feel of film photography and are usually in their 30s. Style-aware, inclusive, and progressive.

Discovery happens primarily through Instagram, planner referrals, word of mouth, and reputation. The decision to book is often driven as much by communication quality as by portfolio strength.

---

VOICE, TONE, AND LANGUAGE

---

Tone: relaxed, refined confidence with NYC art-scene wit. Always inclusive. Never bride-centric.

Preferred anchor language:

film-forward, analog, connection-based, lived-in, anti-cliche, anti-wedding, unobtrusive, candid, nostalgic, avant-garde, documentary

Do not use:

authentic, moody, traditional, trendy.

---

WHAT CMP IS NOT

---

Not traditional, not posed, not trend-following, not cliché, not obtrusive.

Not using continuous light on film.

Not outsourcing any part of the creative or post-production process.

Not bride-centric in language or coverage.

Not using AI-generated copy or AI in post-production.
