A Supremely Choreographed Wedding at TWA Hotel
Amanda & Joe wanted to channel the iconic glamour of TWA's golden-age jet set, keeping it black tie classy — with a hint of weird.
Given Amanda’s background as a professional dancer and choreographer, theatrical moments weren’t just expected—they were anticipated and guaranteed. Case in point: During the ceremony, her bridesmaids didn’t bother with bouquets. Instead, they wielded sass and attitude, wearing sleek black gowns that suited their spirit. It wasn’t so much a walk down the aisle but a Givenchy runway moment.
Then—cue the flower girl. Clad in a wide-brimmed black hat pulled low (picture Beyoncé reformation), she paused at the top of the aisle and with choreographic precision, dropped the hat into her hand—revealing a palm full of white petals—and flung them skyward as she walked down. Theatrical? Absolutely. Iconic? Undoubtedly.
Later, during dinner, Amanda and Joe delivered a choreographed first dance that was so magnetic that it had their guests howling and standing in ovation. It wasn’t a first dance — it was a front-row seat ticket to the Joe & Amanda show.
Then came the cake. Or rather, the piñata masquerading as a three-tiered cake. With the aid of a very large sword (a gift from Joe’s brother—obviously!), the newlyweds took ceremonial swings until it burst open in a shower of—wait for it—colorful wigs. Absolute pandemonium. Guests launched into a wig-snatching frenzy that ignited a very hot and sweaty dance party. (shoutout to DJ TRx, who read the room like a seasoned psychic.)
As the night wore on and cocktails turned into confidently terrible decisions, the gents decided the only fitting way to reach the afterparty was via body roll—yes, body roll—down the iconic (and quite long) TWA red hallway. They - martini-fueled and I - camera-ready, rolled their way down the corridor like tuxedoed sea lions. I was concerned. I was entertained. I was ready to call for a medic. But to my astonishment, they gracefully ended on foot and casually disappeared into the afterparty.
Victory.
