Xanadu + House of Yes Wedding
Noon was not the high point on this particular Friday. Something needed to, quite frankly, get out of the way before the Sun moved a degree. Katie + David greeted their guests in what was initially perceived to be quite a normal fashion the day before their wedding on a trendy Brooklyn rooftop. But normal wasn’t in this brides wheelhouse. Her brain is weather – unpredictable, chaotic, beautiful and overwhelming – and she and her soon-to-be brought all of those thrills and chills to their guests, storming them (literally and figuratively) with activations.
So, in the serenity of an orange juice colored sun, during a totally normal Welcome Party, surprise number one came as an alarm sounded with a weather alert, which swiftly ushered all 250 of their guests up one flight. No one was expecting a ceremony, but there they found themselves, their seats, pinwheels, David’s triplet brothers to officiate, and citibikes (you’ll see) as the processional/recessional vehicle of choice. There was simply not enough time on Saturday for a ceremony with all they had in store for their number ones.

All I did was document what these fine people brought to life:
Planning / Design - Modern Kicks
Friday Venue - Westlight at the William Vale
Saturday Venues - Xanadu + House of Yes
Flowers - Of the Flowers
Band/DJ - Golden Bell
Formalwear - Leeann Huang
Hair/MU - Beauty Icon
Then Saturday came and the chain-mail blue sky dress came on. Then the clouds sauntered throughout the Roller Rink. Then the Mediterranean dinner. The performances in song, dance, theater, Chinese rap. The googly eyes. The sign spinner. The 2nd line to lead everyone around the block to House of Yes where a silver fringed Katie descended from the heavens above to kick off the party with new husband. The retro forecasters danced to the weather changes inside the building, bringing wind, snow and eventually, a finale of rain. Cupcake costumes, cannolis, cowboy boots, contortionists and aerialists all lifted and twisted the dropped jaws with a static electric shock.
It. Did. Not. Stop.
What a whirlwind. See what Katie + David had to say for themselves over on the Cut.
