Love Gets The Lasagna : How To Score A Table at Don Angie

Ah, Don Angie. The glittering meatball mirage of the West Village. A reservation there is nearly impossible. Some say you need six laptops, a crystal pendulum, and an elder witch on retainer to get past the Resy gods.  But Char and Jason cracked the code. Not with technology, not with bribery, not with desperate love poems scrawled on lasagna sheets - but with their wedding as an excuse for a full buyout.

But first, their cute, short, and sweet ceremony took place in the wild green hush of one of the city’s best-kept locations, Jefferson Market Garden. After the ceremony, we meandered through the city, getting howled and whistled at by New Yorkers as we made our way to Don Angie.

No reservations, no waiting. Saucy, steamy plates of pinwheel lasagna and espresso martinis on every table, including mine. It was my first time eating there—me, Tara (planner extraordinaire), and the DJ. We were given a private booth outside under the stars and were served a glorious spread. A little bit of everything, and yes - the pinwheel lasagna was there, staring right at me, and I couldn't believe it, so I ate as much as I could. It hurt, but it was worth it.

You would think that was enough, but the party didn’t stop there. Like all good love stories hosted by serious New York foodies, there was more. A late-night, jam-packed reception at Boqueria Soho the very next evening. Tapas, jello-shots(!!),and dancing.

A full-blown romantic feast of a weekend..
